Hutton: Aston Villa senior stars taken aback by Buendia after what ‘I’ve heard’

Alan Hutton has revealed the Aston Villa squad are “excited” by Emi Buendia after working with him in training.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Villa ace insisted he had heard good things about both the 24-year-old’s ability and personality behind the scenes.

Buendia linked up with his new teammates at Bodymoor Heath last week after returning from international duty with Argentina.

As revealed by Football Insider, the Villans agreed a deal worth £57million in transfer fees, add-ons and wages to sign Buendia from Norwich.

Hutton, who is still in touch with plenty of his old teammates, revealed the Argentine had impressed with “how good of a guy” he is.

He also suggested there is a belief Buendia could “do something special” at Villa Park.

“A lot of the boys are excited,” Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge.

“We’ve seen a lot of the clips on social media. He’s very technically gifted.

“He’s in good shape and works hard. The one thing I’ve heard a lot is how good of a guy he is.

“These sorts of things help a lot moving forward (getting along well with new teammates). Technically we know what he brings.

“The signs are looking good. Everybody’s happy that he’s joined up and they think that he could do something special.”

Buendia was a standout performer for Norwich last season, contributing 15 goals and 17 assists in 39 Championship appearances.

Villa boss Dean Smith is looking to capitalise on an 11th-place finish last term.

He could add another attacker to his squad with the Villans in pole position for Leon Bailey.

In other news, Aston Villa are in advanced talks to sign another Norwich City star.
