SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – Hurricane Fiona strengthened into a category-four storm as it barreled towards Canada’s Atlantic coast.

According to the National Hurricane Center, it’s on track to hit Novia Scotia Sept. 23 with winds up to 130-miles-per-hour.

It will then move northeast, dumping about two-months worth of rainfall across the region.

Forecasters say it has the potential to be very dangerous and urge residents to take the warnings seriously.

So far Fiona has led to the deaths of five-people and left millions of homes in the Caribbean Islands in the dark and without running water.

Meanwhile, a tropical depression is making its way toward Florida where Ron DeSantis has requested federal funding to help prepare the coast of the state for one of the worst storms it’s seen in years.
