Hurricane Delta is getting bigger fast and speeding up as it takes aim at Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula.
It’s now a Category 2 hurricane with top winds of 110 mph.

Category 2 Hurricane Delta made landfall Wednesday morning around 5:30 a.m. near Puerto Morelos with winds of 110 mph.

Although some weakening is likely when Delta moves over the Yucatan peninsula, re-strengthening is forecast when the hurricane moves over the southern Gulf of Mexico Wednesday night and Thursday, and Delta could become a category 4 hurricane again by late Thursday, according to the National Hurricane Center.
