Hunter Biden says he wouldn’t work for Ukrainian firm Burisma if he could have a redo

President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter, said he would not do the work he conducted with a Ukrainian energy firm if he could go back, knowing the damage it cost.
The younger Biden, whose work with the Ukrainian gas company Burisma has been the impetus for speculation of malfeasance and criminal activity, did nothing wrong, but partisan politics would prevent him from redoing that work if he could, he said in his memoir. The book, Beautiful Things, will be released April 6.
“I did nothing unethical, and have never been charged with wrongdoing,” Hunter Biden wrote. “In our current political environment, I don’t believe it would make any difference if I took that seat or not. I’d be attacked anyway.”

“Knowing all of that now: No, I would not do it again,” he said. “I wouldn’t take the seat on Burisma’s board. Trump would have to look elsewhere to find a suitable distraction for his impeachable behavior.”
The president’s son’s work with Burisma raised questions from Republicans, including former President Donald Trump, whose interest in the issue formed the basis of his first impeachment trial. The president, in a phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, encouraged the world leader to work with Rudy Giuliani, the president’s personal attorney, to investigate Hunter Biden’s working relationship with Burisma.
“What I do believe, in this current climate, is that it wouldn’t matter what I did or didn’t do,” he said. “The attacks weren’t intended for me. They were meant to wound my dad.”

Hunter Biden’s work for Burisma played a role in the 2020 presidential election as the former commander in chief sought to tie Biden to the alleged corruption, although neither has been charged or accused of a crime.
The memoir also detailed Hunter Biden’s struggles with addiction. Biden might have lied in 2018 by not disclosing his illicit drug addiction when he bought a firearm, and he is under a federal tax investigation.
