The inhabitants of South Park are back for another special, with Cartman, Stan, Kenny, Kyle and Butters’ world set to be turned upside down by the emergence of AI.
Landing ahead of the 27th season of the long-running animated sitcom, which is set to arrive at some point next year, details of what’s in store for this streaming exclusive are somewhat scant.
The official synopsis is certainly giving little away, hinting at how artificial intelligence is having a deep impact on the kids from Colorado, while also ominously revealing that: “Cartman’s deeply disturbing dreams portend the end of the life he knows and loves.”
A short trailer released in the run-up to release suggests that identity politics may be in the firing line, with the five friends appearing to have changed gender, age and race. Don’t worry, there are still poop jokes.
