How to Spend a Day In Keller

It might not be as flashy as its neighbor, Southlake, but that doesn’t mean people don’t find reasons to gravitate to Keller. In 1990, the population was 13,683. By 2000, it had almost doubled to 27,345, thanks in large part to amenities such as 300-plus acres of parks, an expansive recreation and aquatics center (Keller Pointe), and a packed schedule of events: Trash Bash (Oct. 15), Haunted Camp Out (Oct. 15), Flannel Fest (Nov. 5), and Holly Days (Dec. 2).

Memories N’ Treasures

Housed in a former daycare, Memories N’ Treasures is a large, rambling building full of, well, memories and treasures. Find everything from a working slot machine to a pretty large collection of collector-worthy vintage cameras.

Billed as the “coolest place on earth,” Tornado Terry’s is a busy arcade with enough new and old games to keep you busy all day. Play packages start at $15 per person.

Old Town Keller

Old Town Keller is situated on the original 40-acre tract that started the town. Check out the three museums (Wild Rose Heritage Center, Catherine Anne’s Books and Research Center, and the Station House), and then shop at the numerous small boutiques.

Keller Farmers Market

Every Saturday morning from May to October, Bear Creek Park becomes a gathering point for anyone looking for arts and crafts, fresh produce, baked goods,  and other treats, all produced within 150 miles of the town.

Cold Wave Creations

It may sit in a nondescript shopping center, but Cold Wave Creations churns out homemade, small-batch ice cream in unique flavors that change weekly. Some of owner Craig Allen’s recent creations: honey lavender, banana pudding, and cookie butter.
