How the Texas Rangers became road warriors en route to their first World Series title

The Texas Rangers made history on Wednesday when they beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 5-0 in Game 5 to win the franchise’s first World Series title. The Rangers won the best-of-seven series 3-1.
The Rangers won 11 games in a row on the road to win the title setting a Major League Baseball record for most consecutive wins away from home.
Here’s a glimpse at their playoff trail:
WILD CARD ROUND
▪ Rangers 4, Rays 0: Jordan Montgomery throws a 6-hit shutout while Corey Seager hits two doubles, scores and drives in a run.
▪ Rangers 7, Rays 1: Nathan Eovaldi gives up one run over 6.2 innings while Adolis Garcia hit his first home run of the postseason. The Rangers swept the Rays in the best-of-three series.
AMERICAN LEAGUE DIVISION SERIES
▪ Rangers 3, Orioles 2: Andrew Heaney and Dane Dunning give up a combined two runs in 5.2 innings and Jose Leclerc earns his first save of the postseason. Josh Jung hits his first postseason home run.
▪ Rangers 11, Orioles 8: Rangers have their first double-digit scoring game in the postseason as Mitch Garver hits a third-inning grand slam to blow the game open.
▪ Rangers 7, Orioles 1: Rangers complete their second sweep in a row behind seven dominant innings by Nathan Eovaldi and a barrage of home runs by Seager, Garcia and Nathaniel Lowe.
AMERICAN LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES
▪ Rangers 2, Astros 0: The Rangers win a pitching duel between Montgomery and Justin Verlander while Leody Taveras and Jonah Heim provide the offense.
▪ Rangers 5, Astros 4: The Rangers knock out Astros starter Framber Valdez in three innings and Jose Leclerc earns a four-out save after working out of a jam in the eighth inning.
▪ Astros 8, Rangers 5: The Rangers have their seven-game postseason winning streak snapped and Max Scherzer struggles in his playoff debut giving up five runs. Josh Jung had two home runs and four RBIs in the defeat.
▪ Astros 10, Rangers 3: The Astros rout the Rangers at Globe Life Field after the Rangers fight back from an early three-run deficit. Rangers fail to score another run after Seager’s third-inning home run.
▪ Astros 5, Rangers 4: Rangers lose a heartbreaker following benches clearing after Garcia was hit by Bryan Abreu. Following the scuffle, Jose Leclerc blew the save, giving up a three-run home run to Jose Altuve in the top of the ninth.
▪ Rangers 9, Astros 2: Rangers respond after the heartbreaking loss by routing the Astros at Minute Maid Park, Garcia sends a message after his confrontation with Astros catcher Martín Maldonado in Game 5 by hitting a grand slam in the ninth inning and Eovaldi remained perfect (4-0) to start the postseason.
▪ Rangers 11, Astros 4: The Rangers knocked out Astos starter Christian Javier in the first inning, thanks in part to a solo home run by Seager. Garcia continued to torture the Astros, hitting two home runs and knocking in five RBIs en route to winning ALCS MVP.
WORLD SERIES
▪ Rangers 6, Diamondbacks 5: Eovaldi has his worst game of the postseason giving up five runs but a two-run home run in the bottom of the ninth by Seager ties the game. Garcia hits a solo shot in the 11th inning to give the Rangers a dramatic walk-off victory.
▪ Diamondbacks 9, Rangers 1: Diamondbacks pitcher Merrill Kelly dominates in seven innings and Montgomery gives up four runs in the bounce-back win for Arizona.
▪ Rangers 3, Diamondbacks 1: Scherzer has his best start of the postseason but is forced to leave with a back injury and Jon Gray shines in relief. Semien and Seager power a three-run third inning. Garcia leaves with an oblique injury.
▪ Rangers 11, Diamondbacks 7: The Rangers respond after losing both Garcia and Scherzer for the remainder of the playoffs. Semien has his best game of the postseason while Heaney gives five strong innings.
▪ Rangers 5, Diamondbacks 0 : Texas wins its first World Series title as Eovaldi becomes the first pitcher in MLB history to win five games in a single postseason. After getting no-hit until the seventh inning a Garver single scored the first run of the game and a four-run ninth inning blew the game open.
