House Democratic Caucus Chair Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) spoke about their legislative agenda, the Buffalo mass shooting, and congressional redistricting at the House Democratic Caucus Leaders’ News Conference today.
Jeffries claimed that House Republicans were “fanning the flames of hatred and embracing a racist conspiracy theory” that was circulated by the white supremacists.
He said that they were still waiting for any Republican leader to come forward and denounce the “replacement theory” which led to the mass shooting at Buffalo, New York.
Jeffries asserted that the government must “address the poison of white supremacy” and domestic terrorism. He argued that the crisis impacting the whole country was neither a Democratic nor a Republican issue but an American one.
“And I’m hopeful that Elise Stefanik and my colleagues on the other side of the aisle will see the error of their ways to date and change course immediately because if they don’t, blood will continue to be shed” Jeffries claimed.
