HOLLAND, MI — Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish a bedroom fire and save a family pet in Holland Saturday.
At about 11:56 a.m. Sept. 16, firefighters from the Holland Department of Public Safety responded to a report of smoke inside a residence in the 100 block of West 40th Street in Holland.
Crews arrived on scene to find a working fire in the bedroom of a single-story residence, fire officials said in a news release.
Crews located the source of the fire and extinguished the flames about 10 minutes after arriving, officials said.
Firefighters searched the smoke-filled residence and were able to find a cat that had been in the structure at the time of the fire. The cat was saved and is in good health, officials said.
No occupants of the residence or responders were injured in the fire. Crews remained on scene until around 2 p.m. for ventilation and air monitoring, officials said.
Flame damage was confined to the room where the fire started and the contents of that room, officials said. The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time and is under investigation.
Firefighters were aided at the scene by the Holland Police Department and American Medical Response.
