Templegate’s ITV Racing verdicts

GET Lucki in the Haldon Gold Cup (3.35 Exeter).

THIRD TIME LUCKI is a proven winner at this level, goes well fresh and has a handy weight. Here’s my guide to all today’s telly action.

1.30 Down Royal

NIKINI showed promise in bumpers and has taken well to hurdling with convincing wins at Kilbeggan and Listowel.

She picked up strongly last time and can take another step forward here.

Willie Mullins has a strong hand when Saylavee catching the eye with a good hurdles debut win at Gowran.

The Model Kingdom is unbeaten with more to come.

1.50 Exeter

SHIROCCO’S DREAM did her best work early on last season with wins here and at Sandown.

So fresh is the time to catch her and she’s off the same mark as her most recent success.

Mulberry Hill won on return at Carlisle and gets on well with her 7lb claiming rider.

She’ll have no issue staying this slightly longer trip.

Betty’s Banjo will enjoy going back up in trip on this handicap debut and is another to consider.

2.05 Down Royal

PIED PIPER can make the most of his fitness edge over returning stablemate Fil D’Or.

He did the job nicely at Cheltenham last month and is improving.

There was a neck between them in the Triumph Hurdle and Jack Kennedy’s mount can turn that form around.

2.25 Exeter

THYME HILL is a Grade 1 winner over hurdles and should be too good on this chase debut.

He was second in the Stayers’ Hurdle at Cheltenham in March so connections must think he’ll do well over fences to bother making the switch. This trip should be ideal.

Flash Collonges was a solid second on his last run here and is fit from comeback at Chepstow so looks a bigger danger than Press Your Luck who whipped round at the start and unseated last time.

2.40 Down Royal

GEVREY battled well to win at Limerick last month and can cope with a 6lb rise. He stays well so more rain won’t be an issue.

Alice Avril can improve this season from what looks a fair mark and is a danger.

The Greek had 27 lengths in hand when scoring at Perth so deserves this crack at a better race.

3.00 Exeter

KILLER KANE was a smart novice last season, winning a Listed contest at Sandown before a solid third in Grade 3 company at Aintree.

He won around here over hurdles and should be capable of going close on this comeback.

When You’re Ready took a fall at Chepstow in April after scoring there earlier in the season. He is capable of figuring.

Gats And Co will be fitter after his comeback third, while Minella Buster scored well on chase debut at Kempton and is another to consider.

3.35 Exeter

THIRD TIME LUCKI goes well fresh and landed two Grade 2 prizes last season.

He is prone to the odd error but likes this trip and gets plenty of weight from Greaneteen.

He is the class act in the race and won this in 2020 but he used it as a stepping stone to the Tingle Creek 12 months ago and it could be the same case again.

War Lord went well in Grade 1 company last season and trainer Joe Tizzard is flying so he is another big threat.

Dolos is capable on his day and his low weight brings him into this although he doesn’t win very often.
