Horner believes his drivers can give Ferrari a hard time come Sunday

Despite not getting the pole position today, the Red Bull team principal Christian Horner is very optimistic about the race tomorrow. Horner believes that his cars will still be the fastest around the track on a Sunday, as they have been in the previous races and that on a track where you can overtake, that’s a big advantage.

The team principal wasn’t going to shy away from admitting that “over a single lap, Ferrari has the edge,” as he reacted to Charles Leclerc’s sixth pole position in the last eight races. However, the Brit is also very aware that “on Sundays, we’ve had a good competitive race car, so at a track, you can overtake at. Hopefully, we can give them a hard time tomorrow.”
Praise for Checo continues
The 48-year-old believes that Checo is carrying his confidence from Monaco well, and believes that “he’s excelled out here, without the benefit of any tow, a good lap for him,” he continued with, “his performance was pretty mighty, I think with a tow it would have been close, but I still don’t think we quite had the pace to nail Charles today.” The lack of the tow was highlighted by Horner as a “small issue with refuelling, which just delayed it. Unfortunately, so I think it was just a numbers error.”
