Organisers of a charity Boxing Day tractor convoy are hoping for a bumper year as the festive spectacle hits the road in a milestone year.
The annual tractor run from The Angel Inn at Larling will celebrate its 20th anniversary this year as it trundles around roads and villages between Attleborough and Thetford.
It is the sixth event to be organised by farmer Gavin Stammers and his son Jack, with dozens of vintage, classic and modern tractors expected to drive a 25-mile circuit starting and finishing at the pub, run by Gavin’s brother Andrew Stammers.
Last year’s event featured around 200 vehicles, and raised more than £4,500 for rural mental health charity YANA (You Are Not Alone).
This year, it will benefit the Big C cancer charity – and Mr Stammers said last year’s total has already been surpassed thanks to a £5,000 donation from Simpsons Malt.
“We will be raising a lot more money this year because we have had this very generous donation before we’ve even started, so I’m hoping we can raise double for charity this year,” he said.
The tractors depart the Angel Inn in Larling at 10am on Boxing Day. The exact route is kept a surprise until the day, but the convoy is expected to return to the pub between 2pm and 2.30pm.
