One of the country’s most high-profile public servants has been referred to the Australian Public Service Commissioner following claims he sent text messages to a Liberal Party operative disparaging senior politicians.

Home Affairs Secretary Mike Pezzullo is facing pressure to resign after it was reported he sent a number of encrypted messages to senior Liberal powerbroker Scott Briggs in which he badmouthed political leaders, including Julie Bishop and Marise Payne.
