Holy Cross Prep rallies to advance in SJ, NP B Tournament – Boys Basketball recap

After a slow start during its first-round contest of the NJSIAA South Jersey, Non-Public B Tournament, five-seed Holy Cross Prep battled back to defeat 12-seed Donae Academy, 51-42, in Delran.
Holy Cross Prep (14-13) cut an early 11-point deficit down to two going into halftime. The Lancers carried their momentum into the second half by outscoring Doane, 30-19, to advance to the quarterfinals of the sectional tournament.
Avian Novoa knocked in a team-high 12 points for the Lancers. Manny Doku, Joey Martino and Samir Wellington each followed with 10 points during the victory for Holy Cross Prep, who will face four-seed Calvary Christian in the quarterfinals on Monday.
Nick Fusco led Doane (7-19) with 12 points in the contest and Hiatt Smith had nine points for the Spartans.
