Former TV and pop star Holly Candy née Valance has made it clear she’s never returning to Australia.

Residing in the UK with her billionaire entrepreneur husband Nick Candy, the private Aussie star told GB News’ Chopper’s Political Podcast she had no plans to return home due to the “problems” and “woke stuff” affecting the nation.

Having lived abroad for a decade, the Neighbours alum suggested the country she once loved has changed significantly.

“The Australia I grew up in was unreal. It was so fun and we didn’t seem to have all these problems,” she said.

“The woke stuff’s really gone big in Australia.”

With two kids of her own, the 40-year-old revealed she felt ‘wokeism’ was taking over schools.

“I don’t think sexuality and children should be in the same sentence. I don’t think anyone’s sexuality is anyone’s business. You don’t know about mine. I don’t know about yours. Why would we?” she said.

Candy called out notorious climate activist Greta Thunberg as being responsible for the afflictions troubling this generation of children.

She told host Christopher Hope, “I don’t understand why you have this, like, demonic little gremlin high priestess of climatism as the goddess in classrooms, Greta (Thunberg)…”

“All the kids are all coming home with depression and anxiety”, she said.

“Why would you go to your music lesson or bother doing your homework or get out of your bed if you think we’re all going to be dead in five years anyway?”

While Aussies often refer to themselves as living in a “Nanny nation”, Candy revealed she was still receiving unwanted contact from one particular state.

The ex-pop star said the “nanny State” of Victoria was still sending her fines every few months for not voting.

Pending a political victory for Labour in the UK — a result that would not align with her staunchly right-wing views — Candy admitted she loved the UK and was not considering a move back home.

“The plan would be to stay and live where we love, which is here,” she said.

“I’m very patriotic to this place. My mother is from Southampton. My whole family is English.

“I don’t want to go anywhere. And Nick doesn’t want to go anywhere. We prefer to be in our country.”

Earlier this year, the Kiss Kiss singer admitted her political views had evolved naturally.

“I would say that everyone starts off as a leftie, then wakes up at some point, after you start either making money, working, trying to run a business, trying to buy a home, and then you realise what crap ideas they all are,” Candy said.

“And then you go to the right.”

Candy was sighted alongside former President Donald Trump in 2022, describing him as “extremely warm, extremely gentlemanly”.

She argued people needed to “harden up” in regards to his often polarising remarks about women.

“People say nasty things all day,” Candy said. “I have had disgusting things said to me … Did I cry? No.”
