Hey, Columbus and Phenix City drivers. Road closures and resurfacing coming your way

Officials in Columbus and Phenix City announced a total of four road closures or resurfacing projects this week. Here’s a roundup for what you need to know:

Sixth Street Columbus: From Dec. 19-20, Sixth Street in Columbus will be closed from Third Avenue to Fifth Avenue for railroad maintenance on the Veterans Parkway crossing.

Intersection of County Line Road and Mehaffey Road in Columbus: On Dec. 21, the intersection of County Line Road and Mehaffey Road will be closed from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for the installation of a roundabout. The project is expected to be completed that day, Columbus assistant engineering director Vance Beck told the Ledger-Enquirer.

12th Place in Phenix City: Resurfacing of 12th Place between Eighth Avenue and Ninth Avenue started Thursday and is expected to be completed by Dec. 18. The street will remain open, but traffic will be slowed.

10th Avenue South in Phenix City: Resurfacing of 10th Avenue South between Seale Road and First Place started Thursday. The street will remain open, but traffic will be slowed. No estimated time for completion of this project is provided in the news release. The person answering the phone in the city’s engineering department told the Ledger-Enquirer that’s because they don’t know.
