The search is on for Trevor Noah’s replacement.

The South African-born comedian, 38, announced his departure from Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show” on Sept. 29, after hosting the topical satire news show for seven years.

According to Variety, Comedy Central might replace him with Samantha Bee, 53, a “Daily Show” correspondent before landing her own satire news show, TBS’s now-canceled “Full Frontal With Samantha Bee,” which had a similar format.

The network is also reportedly considering candidates from outside the ranks of former correspondents — actor and Obama White House staffer Kal Penn, 45, is thought to be in the running, Variety said. Similar rumors were floated last time around. Before Noah was chosen to succeed Jon Stewart, Amy Poehler, Tina Fey and Chris Rock’s names were all mentioned.

“The Daily Show” has been on the air since 1996, launching with Craig Kilborn and later becoming a ratings smash with Stewart in the hosting chair. Noah began his stint in 2015, shepherding the show through the pandemic, when it filmed remotely. His departure announcement allegedly came as a surprise to his staff.

“It’s been absolutely amazing, it’s something that I never expected and I found myself thinking throughout the time, everything we’ve gone through … I realized after seven years, my time is up,” Noah announced on the Sept. 29 episode of the show.

Noah’s final appearance as the host will reportedly be on Dec. 8. After that, “The Daily Show” will take a hiatus and return in January with a group of its current correspondents rotating at the helm, such as comedians Roy Wood Jr. and Jordan Klepper of the “Fingers the Pulse” segments.

“In time, we will turn to the next chapter of ‘The Daily Show’ and all of our incredible correspondents will be at the top of that list,” a Comedy Central spokesperson told The Post. “Until then, we are focused on celebrating Trevor and thanking him for his many contributions.”
