The Henderson County Department of Public Health is partnering with Henderson County Public Schools over the next week to provide several opportunities for students, their families — and the general public — to easily receive the flu shot at drive-through clinics.

The after-school flu shot clinics will be held at local high schools on five dates throughout October, and students and family members can visit any clinic regardless of where they attend.

No appointment is needed for the clinics.

The Henderson County Health Department will accept insurance, Medicaid or cash/check only (no credit or debit cards). Insurance companies in-network with the health department are listed HERE.

The out-of-network cost per shot administered is $43, paid for by cash or check only.

“Our school nurses look forward to offering this opportunity again to students and staff,” said Kim Berry, school nurse supervisor. “Flu can spread easily, and students can be sick with the flu for a week or more, which may cause them to miss school. Getting the flu vaccine is the best way to protect yourself from getting the flu.”

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends a yearly influenza vaccine for everyone six months of age and older.

The high-dose flu vaccine for ages 65 and older will not be available at the drive-thru clinics, but individuals can make an appointment for the high-dose vaccine at the Health Department or find another provider at www.vaccines.gov.
