The Heat went 44-38 during the regular season and finished as the seventh seed in the Eastern Conference.
However, they lost 116-105 to the Atlanta Hawks on Tuesday night in the first game of the play-in tournament.
They have made the NBA Playoffs in each of the last three seasons and are coming off a year where they lost in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals.
The winner of Friday’s showdown will be the eighth seed and face off with the Milwaukee Bucks in the first round of the NBA Playoffs.
After making the playoffs for the first time since 2017 (last year), the Bulls had a disappointing 202-23 regular season.
They were the tenth seed with a 40-42 record but are coming off an impressive 109-105 victory over the Toronto Raptors (in Canada) on Wednesday, which was their first play-in tournament game.
During the regular season, the Heat went 27-14 in the 41 games they hosted on their home floor in Miami, while the Bulls struggled on the road, going just 18-23 in the 41 games they played away from the United Center in Chicago.
Both teams have talented rosters that could give the Bucks a challenge in the first round.
