Happy Easter!
Today marks the end of Holy week for millions of Catholics/Christians around the world who are celebrating renewal of their Christian faith on Easter. The Easter celebration arrives at the culmination of Holy Week, which began on Palm Sunday.
This weekend also marks the end of lent, a six-week period of reflection, prayer and fasting for those who believe in Jesus Christ as their Savior.
So, why is Easter on a different date every year and not the same date as Christmas is each year, or the Feast of the Assumption? It is because Easter as it’s commonly celebrated in the United States, falls on the first Sunday after the first full moon of the spring equinox, which is always between March 22 and April 25. Also, Orthodox Easter is celebrated on the Sunday after the first full moon after Passover, between April 4th and May 8th.
Happy Easter to all who are celebrating! May the joy of the Easter season fill your heart and home with love and good health.
