HBO Max crashed Sunday night as viewers were logging in for the season finale of the crime drama Mare Of Easttown starring Kate Winslet.

Twitter erupted as fans of the mini-series were greeted with error messages instead of English actress Winslet, 45, portraying detective sergeant Mare Sheehan as she investigates the murder of a young girl and the disappearance of another in Easttown, Pennsylvania.

‘Just trying to watch my depressing murder show and HBO Max is having none of it,’ one viewer tweeted along with a still of Mare snacking with spray cheese.

The problem was mostly resolved within an hour and an HBO Max spokesperson told TVLine at 11.15pm Sunday: ‘Some HBO Max users experienced Intermittent service disruptions this evening, but the issue was quickly resolved and service has been restored’.

But despite the network’s claim of resolving it’s streaming-related issues, viewers of the show continued to alert the HBO Max Help Twitter account that they were still unable to stream the program’s highly-anticipated finale.

At 12.49am Monday, over an hour after HBO Max Help’s initial tweet, the account once again announced that it had resolved all streaming problems to the dismay of frustrated fans.

‘Our team has resolved streaming issues with #HBOMax,’ the account tweeted. ‘You may need to close and reopen HBO Max, or sign out and sign back in. Please tweet us for further support, thank you!’

The network once again tweeted that they had resolved ongoing streaming problems an hour after initially claiming such issues had been sorted out, as rabid Mare of Easttown fans voiced their displeasure during Sunday's highly-anticipated season finale
