HAZELWOOD — Nature’s Bakery, which has over 400 employees at a facility in Hazelwood, has been sold to healthy-snack maker Kind.
Since the acquisition, Nature’s Bakery, which makes nut- and dairy-free baked snacks, has increased its workforce at the commercial bakery on Pershall Road from roughly 110 people to 422 following a pivot to fig bars and healthy snacks. Jan Marson, whose husband, Dave Marson, launched Nature’s Bakery in 2011 with his son Sam Marson, told the Post-Dispatch there should be few changes to the operations and job numbers at the plant.
“This is actually I think more job security, having a big company behind us,” Jan Marson said.
She said the company plans to install two new baking lines in the Hazelwood plant next year with new technology that won’t result in any jobs lost. The management team, led locally by bakery director Debra Rumfield, will remain in place.
