Harry Kane and Ellen White are both England legends already.

Both have captained their country and remain within touching distance of Wayne Rooney’s all-time England scoring record.

The two strikers have had a number of special moments in an England shirt and reminisced about some of their most memorable games while speaking with presenter Josh Denzel.

England debuts

Every player dreams of scoring on their international debut and Kane and White did just that.

The Tottenham forward made his first appearance against Lithuania in 2015 and scored just 80 seconds after coming on as a substitute.

Kane replaced Rooney during the second half and says it was surreal coming on for the former England superstar.

“Obviously coming on for Wazza was an amazing thing for me. I’d watched him growing up and I got a great reception when I came on, which was incredible.”

Meanwhile, White made her debut against Austria at Loftus Road way back in 2010 –– scoring a sublime chip as the Lionesses won 3-0.

“All I can talk about is how big my shorts were,” she joked. “You can probably see I was bricking it. Mentally, I felt like it [her goal] took forever to go in.”

Captaincy

Few are fortunate enough to ever captain England, yet Kane and White have both had that honour.

Kane first skippered the Three Lions back in 2017 in their 2018 World Cup qualifier against Scotland at Hampden Park and scored an added time equaliser to rescue a draw.

“I think the goal was like the 94th minute and Hampden Park at that stage was going crazy,” he recalled. “It was one of the best atmospheres I’ve ever played in.”

Equally, in the same year, White captained England against Denmark –– scoring both goals in a 2-1 victory in Copenhagen.

“It’s just such a huge honour leading the group,” she said. “But for me, it’s about leading by example, just being professional and just performing well for the team.”

Playing at Wembley

For England players, there are few better feelings than scoring at Wembley and it’s something White and Kane have been lucky enough to experience on plenty of occasions.

White scored against Germany back in 2019 and admitted there are not many feelings that have topped that moment.

“It’s just such an iconic game, isn’t it? England vs Germany. And to score against them at Wembley was really special. You can’t beat it I don’t think.”

Similarly, Kane scored in England’s 2-0 victory over Germany at Wembley during Euro 2020.

“This one was just one of my favourite moments ever. To beat Germany, to see people falling off their seats. That was a magical moment,” he stressed.
