Happy Pi Day! Here’s where you can find some mathematically great deals in the Quad Cities

National Pi Day is here! From pizza to regular dessert pies, there are plenty of deals taking place today.

DAVENPORT, Iowa — Every year, March 14 marks National Pi Day — with 3/14 being the first three digits of the famous irrational number. 

Pi Day itself dates back to 1988 when physicist Larry Shaw began celebrations at the Exploratorium Science Museum in San Francisco. The holiday didn’t really gain national recognition until two decades later. In 2009, Congress designated every March 14 to be the big day — to hopefully spur more interest in math and science. Fittingly enough, the day is also Albert Einstein’s birthday.

Pi has been calculated to be more than 100 trillion digits beyond its decimal point, according to a Google report from 2022.

Now the annual holiday gives math enthusiasts the opportunity to recite the infinite digits of Pi, talk to their friends about math or, most importantly, just eat some pie.

Here are some mathematically great deals in the Quad Cities just for Pi Day. 

Village Inn

Village Inn diners can get a free slice of pie with any entree purchase on March 14. The offer is only available for dine-in purchases. 

Burger King Pi Day Free Pie

On Pi Day, Burger King is reportedly offering its Royal Perks rewards member a free Hershey’s Sundae Pie with any purchase of…you guessed it…$3.14 or more. The offer is only valid on March 14, while supplies last. 

Casey’s

The Midwest gas station chain is offering a small pizza, breadsticks or wings for $3.14 with the purchase of any large pizza when using the promo code PIDAY.

DiGiorno Pizza Rescue

Starting on Pi Day, DiGiorno is launching a “Pizza Rescue Program” for those who experience a mishap with delivery or carry-out from other pizza companies. From March 14 to April 11, those who have a pizza delivery or carry-out problem can upload an image of their damaged pizza to DIGIORNOPizzaRescue.com and receive a DiGiorno discount coupon. 

The company claims “AI-enabled pizza technology will assess the pie for its level of mishap” and users will get between $1 and $2 off based on the percentage of the pizza that’s been damaged. 

Papa Murphy’s Pi Day deal

On Thursday, March 14, Papa Murphy’s is offering 31.4% off all online orders with the promo code PIDAY24. The offer is good on regularly priced items and doesn’t require a specific cart minimum. 

Pizza Hut Pi Day 2024 deal

While not specifically for Pi Day, from March 12 to March 14 Pizza Hut is offering a free large one-topping pizza with the purchase of another large pizza. Customers can use the code FREEPIZZA to claim the offer. 

Taco Bell Pi Day Mexican Pizza deal

For Pi Day, Taco Bell will be offering a Mexican Pizza for $3.14 to rewards members exclusively in the fast food chain’s app. 

7-Eleven Pi Day Pizza deal

In celebration of Pi Day, 7-Eleven is once again offering its rewards members a large pizza for $3.14 on March 14. The retailer will also offer discounts on its mobile delivery app including $14 off a $30 order using the promo code PIDAYDEAL and free delivery with a purchase over $15.
