Nathaniel Hackett has a new job, one month after being fired by the Denver Broncos.
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — Nathaniel Hackett has a new home in the AFC.
The former head coach of the Denver Broncos was hired Thursday as the new offensive coordinator of the New York Jets.
Hackett was fired by the Broncos on Dec. 26 after an embarrassing 51-14 Christmas Day defeat to the Los Angeles Rams.
Hackett didn’t make it through the first season of his four-year Broncos contract with a 4-11 record, the No. 32 scoring offense and the struggles of quarterback Russell Wilson.
Hackett, 43, was previously an offensive coordinator for the Green Bay Packers from 2019 to 2021, the Jacksonville Jaguars from 2016 to 2018, and the Buffalo Bills in 2013 and 2014.
Hackett is the son of Paul Hackett, whose four decades in coaching included a stint as the offensive coordinator for the Jets under Herm Edwards from 2001-04.
Hackett replaces offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur who was fired by the Jets on Jan. 11.
The Jets will play the Broncos in Denver at Empower Field at Mile High in 2023.
Teams coming to Denver include the Jets, New England Patriots, Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings, Cleveland Browns and Washington Commanders.
The Broncos will head on the road in 2023 to play the Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins, Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions and Houston Texans.
