“A little before 8 a.m., my papa, Lennox, succumbed to his injuries and passed away peacefully,” Charles wrote on his Facebook page. “My father was a rare man — resolute, strong, tender and without malice. A man capable only of loving. No woman had a better husband. No son could have been prouder.”
Charles wrote that his father had now joined the love of his life, his wife, who passed away a year earlier.
Witnesses reported Charles was crossing Côte-des-Neiges Rd. at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday when a front-end loader, which was travelling west on Belvedère Rd., struck him. He was sent to hospital in critical condition.
On Wednesday, Gregory Charles took to Facebook to identify the accident victim as his father and ask readers for prayers for his recovery.
Montreal police said Thursday their investigation into the incident is continuing.
