Greggs to open new bakery in Peterborough shopping centre later this year

Greggs will open a new store in Peterborough later this year. The bakery chain said it was unable to share details “at the moment” but said more information would be shared “in the coming months”.

The takeaway sausage roll giant has secured a spot at the Serpentine Green shopping centre and will open later this year. The Greggs store will open where Thomas Cook previously was, which is next to Costa and near the Tesco Extra and M&S entrance.

An opening date is yet to be announced but Greggs said more information will be shared in the next few months. This will be the seventh Greggs in and around the city of Peterborough.

A Greggs spokesperson said: “Greggs is due to open a new shop in Peterborough later this year. While we are unable to share any details at the moment, we will be sure to share further information in the coming months.”

Currently at the future store, posters have been put up advertising the new Greggs with a tease of “coming soon” alongside a picture of a mouthwatering doughnut. Bosses are also looking for people to become a part of the “Greggs family” adding: “There’s never been a more exciting time to join.”

Some of the items expected to be on offer include favourites such as sausage rolls, bakes, pastries, breakfast baps, doughnuts as well as hot and cold drinks. It is yet to be confirmed if the new Greggs at Serpentine will offer dine-in or Click + Collect orders via the Greggs App.

The bakery chain has six other stores located in and around the city centre. This includes Bretton Centre, Bridge Street, Long Causeway, Fletton Quays, Queensgate and Ortongate.
