Great advertisement for Test cricket over T20 – Cricket world reacts to NZ’s win by 1-run vs ENG

WELLINGTON, New Zealand (AP) — New Zealand defeated England by 1 run in the second cricket Test at the Basin Reserve on Tuesday to level the series at 1-1. James Anderson was the last man to be dismissed, with England requiring 2 runs. He was caught by the wicketkeeper on the ball of Neil Wagner.

It was the only fourth instance in cricket history that a team won a Test after a follow-on. England twice and India once are the only other teams to achieve the feat.

Meanwhile, the visitors were in a commanding position, with Joe Root (95) and Ben Stokes (33) sharing a partnership of 121 runs, but their dismissals brought the Kiwis back into the game.

Wagner was the most successful bowler with four wickets, while captain Tim South took three scalps. Kane Williamson was named the Man of the Match for scoring a hundred in the second innings.

Fans lauded New Zealand for their emphatic win over the Ben Stokes-led team.
