Grammys: Megan Thee Stallion and Cardi B Bring Racy “WAP” Performance
Cardi #Cardi
Megan Thee Stallion and Cardi B brought plenty of body and savage style to the 63rd annual Grammy Awards with their tandem performance of “WAP.” The two offered a sensual and sexually empowered performance that featured a massive stiletto heel and the two singers dancing about on a large bed.
At the top of the performance, Cardi B appeared in a futuristic metallic outfit while working a short, light purple haircut swept to the side. As vibrant, neon graphics appeared about the stage, Cardi sang her hit single “Up.”
Transitioning to “WAP,” Cardi headed over to a solo pole that ended up being the heel of a giant stiletto. The futuristic theme continued as Cardi swayed among male and female dancers with blue skin. While the song’s chorus was changed to “wet wet wet,” the sensuality of Cardi B and Megan’s performance did not hold back.
Ahead of their dual performance, Megan took to the Grammys stage to perform. The 25-year-old artist was beaming after having won best new artist earlier in the night, and shined even more on the golden 1920s-era stage adorned with flapper dancers. The singer stripped away her feather headdress and robe to reveal a sequin bodysuit, perfect for her first performance of “Body.” As Megan took to showing off her “Savage” moves, Beyonce’s vocals could be heard but the superstar did not make a physical appearance.
During the premiere ceremony for the awards show, Megan Thee Stallion and Beyoncé won best rap performance for “Savage Remix.” The honor marks Megan’s first career Grammy win. The track beat out fellow nominees Big Sean with Nipsey Hussle, DaBaby, Jack Harlow, Lil Baby and Pop Smoke.
Megan was also nominated for record of the year and won best rap song for “Savage.”
Hosted by Trevor Noah, the ceremony was held at the Los Angeles Convention Center and broadcast live on CBS and Paramount+.
