GOP’s Clyde likening Jan 6. to normal tourism ‘sick’: Pelosi
Clyde #Clyde
“You would not believe that a Republican member on the committee said that what happened that day was just a normal, orderly visit of people to the capitol,” Pelosi said. “Really?”
“Well, I don’t know on a normal day around here, when people are threatening to hang the vice president of the United States, or shoot the speaker,” she added.
Pelosi appeared to be referring to Clyde’s comments on Wednesday where during a House Oversight hearing on the January 6 riots, he likened the violence by Trump supporters to a normal “tourist visit.”

NANCY PELOSI: Sadly, yesterday there was a hearing in the Committee on Government Reform that was quite appalling. There’s no use my even telling you about it. You have to see it for yourself, because you would not believe that a Republican member on the committee said that what happened that day was just normal orderly visit of people to the Capitol.
Really? Really? Well, I don’t know on a normal day around here when people are threatening to hang the vice president of the United States or shoot the speaker in the forehead or disrupt and injure so many police officers. I don’t consider that normal.
Multiple people were killed, over 140 police officers– issued a gallows was put up, and the attackers chanted hang the vice president. Normal? Yet in a hearing held yesterday, some House Republicans defended those actions, saying the rioters were orderly and acting similar to a normal tourist visit.
They basically, if you saw them, they said, well, they were just walking through between the velvet ropes that are there to direct the tourist path. You have to see it, because it was beyond denial. It fell into the range of sick.
