Google Just Revealed the Favorite Game Day Dips Ahead of the Super Bowl

What would the Super Bowl be without game day eats? Let’s just say, football fans would get pretty hangry. Even hangrier then fumbling the ball in the last few minutes of the game. So, it’s no surprise that many people right now are preparing for their Super Bowl watch party by seeking out the best snacks and Super Bowl dips.

In fact, according to Google Trends, people across the country are searching for game day dips plenty—and each state has a favorite! The data comes from the most uniquely searched dips in every state ahead of the Super Bowl 2024. And they really run the gamut. Of course, there are classic party dips, cream cheese-based dips, and veggie dips, like corn dip and spinach-artichoke dip, on the map ahead. Plus, there are football favorites like buffalo chicken dip in all its cheesy, spicy goodness. But then you’ll see some outliers that might just surprise you—who knew that Ree Drummond’s home state would be a fan of fruit dip? Or that taco dip would only win out in one single state?

There are some seriously interesting results on this map of game day dips. Read on for more insights and maybe you’ll even be inspired to make a new dip for the Super Bowl this year.

To kick things off, let’s take a look at the five categories of game day dips, according to Google: There are buffalo dips, cheesy dips, fruit and veggie dips, seafood dips, and other. While buffalo dips (both crock-pot and regular) took the win in 16 states, it was narrowly beat out by the wide variety of dips in the fruit and veggie category. That includes corn dip in North Dakota, creamy jalapeño dip in Texas, and spinach dip in states like Mississippi, Alabama, and Georgia.

It also includes fruit dip—the most uniquely searched dip in Oklahoma, Arkansas, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Utah. (What’s that about?!)

For those who are fans of the ooey, gooey cheesy variety of dips, you’ll be happy to know that queso dip took top honors in Montana and Idaho. And some other notable dips on the map include cannoli dip in Massachusetts and Connecticut, taco dip in Wisconsin, and smoked salmon dip in Oregon and Alaska.
