Hodge is co-founder and executive director of a Lexington non-profit, A Running Start, which is committed to encouraging, growing and helping new runners from challenged backgrounds get a fresh start in life. Partnering with The Hope Center, she works with those in recovery by providing an opportunity to train for a 5K and to “graduate” with a medal, but more importantly, a letter of recommendation for job placement and housing.

She personally provides running shoes to many in the program, and covers travel to and from facilities, race registrations, gym memberships, physical therapy appointments, purchases of water, clothing and medical needs.

And she uses her business networks to find job placement and housing for those in the program. Additionally, she can be found lacing up running shoes to train with dozens of men and women almost every night. In addition to A Running Start, Hodge also finds time to volunteer at many other organizations in the area including Dining with Dignity and remains a strong advocate for the mission of Greenhouse 17.

For her efforts, she was awarded the Randy Breeding Volunteer of the Year in 2019 for the Hope Center. Hodge is also president-elect of the Lexington Forum.

In addition, Raquel Carter, broker/owner of Guide Realty in Lexington, took home the Distinguish Service Award, given on behalf of the LBAR president to recognize individuals who have gone above and beyond for the Association and industry.
