Gonzaga vs. USC score: Live 2021 NCAA Tournament updates, Elite Eight bracket, highlights, live stream

Gonzaga #Gonzaga

Given USC’s dominance of its first three NCAA Tournament opponents and its excellent interior defense, there was reason to believe the No. 6 seed Trojans might put a scare in No. 1 seed Gonzaga in Tuesday night’s Elite Eight game. But the Bulldogs put their superiority on display in the first half by taking an 49-30 lead into halftime of the West Regional Final.

Gonzaga sophomore center Drew Timme got the best of freshman counterpart Evan Mobley in the first half by scoring 15 points and keying an explosive first half for the Zags before picking up his second foul. Mobley scored eight points for USC while brother Isaiah Mobley led the Trojans with 11.

The first half featured a scary moment, as referee Bert Smith collapsed during play. After a few moments, Smith alert and was seen sitting up as he was carted off the court. When play resumed, Gonzaga opened up a 36-15 lead before USC clawed back to cut it to 36-23. But the Bulldogs closed the half by making their final three attempts from the floor to regain the momentum.
