‘Going to hurt’ – Arsenal-supporting Luton star Pelly Ruddock Mpanzu fires warning to Tottenham and James Maddison

One Luton star is going to have more than just winning three points for the Hatters to think about when he faces Tottenham.

Pelly Ruddock Mpanzu made headlines by becoming the first player to go from non-league football to the Premier League with one club following the Hatters promotion last season.

But his admission before kick-off at Kenilworth Road shows he might have making another achievement on his mind.

The midfielder is a self-confessed fan of Arsenal, Saturday’s visitors’ fierce north London rivals.

Now, Mpanzu, who is in Rob Edwards’ starting XI for the fixture, has admitted he’s raring to face them.

Speaking to TNT Sport before the game against Spurs, he said: “I support Arsenal, so it’s going to be a bit tasty… I’m Arsenal through and through.

“If Tottenham come and win, it’s going to hurt.”

There’s one player in particular that he said he’s going to look to keep quiet in midfield, too.

“I need to crunch James Maddison early doors,” he laughed when asked how he’ll nullify the ex-Leicester man’s threat. “Obviously don’t get a yellow card so I can keep doing it!”

He continued: “I am going to try and get as close as possible to Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr.”

Luton are yet to win at home in the Premier League and will be hoping to achieve that with just one win at Everton under their belt.

Meanwhile, Spurs are able to go top of the league today should they secure all three points.

Manchester City are just one point ahead of them at the top of the league.
