Gogglebox viewers were left shedding happy tears as Mary and Marina finally returned to the show after a year off from filming.
The ladies, who are both in their 90s, appeared in the final episode of the series, much to the joy of viewers who’d missed their funny interactions.
Mary and Marina had been off screens during the coronavirus pandemic in order to help protect them and ensure they were shielding.
Both women received their coronavirus vaccines in January after shielding at their homes in their retirement village and shared a snap of them getting their jab together.
Last year Gogglebox creator Tania Alexander revealed that bosses had to make the difficult decision not to film with the whole cast, leaving those who were at higher risk of coronavirus on a break until it was deemed safe to resume filming.
She told the Telegraph: ‘Unfortunately, it was not possible to film with the full cast.
‘For example, we took the decision to tell Mary and Marina, who are in their 90s and live in a care home, that we didn’t want them put at any risk so we should stop filming with them altogether.
‘The ladies are safe and well looked after but often tell us they dearly miss the crews and the fun they have during filming each week.’
They were just as missed by viewers, who even shed tears to see Mary and Marina in the first clip from the final episode.
