Gogglebox stars’ real jobs revealed – from Ukip politician to Manchester United coach
UKIP #UKIP
GOGGLEBOX stars aren’t exactly showered with rewards for putting in the hours on the show.
The Sun revealed they get £1,500 a month per family plus a free takeaway or two – so it’s no surprise that the couch potatoes also hold down full-time jobs.

However, what the show’s biggest names do when they’re not being sarcastic about the week’s telly is rarely mentioned.
So here we run down the occupations of the true stars of Channel 4’s Friday night line-up.
From one who stood as a Ukip politician to another who coaches for Manchester United, this lot are just as switched on when they’re away from the box…

Giles Wood and Mary Killen are famous for delivering hilarious – and occasionally complaint-provoking – views from their Wiltshire cottage.
However they are also well-known in their own fields – he is a writer and painter while she is a journalist and long-time contributor to politics mag The Spectator.
In fact, she has even written about her experience of doing the show, describing the fee they get for doing it as “tiny”.
She also complained that people come up to her in the street and tell her how funny her husband is.

The Manchester-based Malones are a family of six – usually seen with at least one of their enormous, lumbering dogs.
The eldest two, Vanessa and Lee, don’t appear on the show but parents Tom, a lorry driver, and Julie, a receptionist, appear alongside Tom Junior and Shaun.
The younger Tom is a model, choreographer and lately Tik Tok star, who often ropes his dad into dances.
Meanwhile, new father Shaun coaches at Manchester United, working in its Ability Counts disability football programme.

Blackpool brother and sister duo Sophie and Pete Sandiford are almost always seen sprawled out behind a giant mug of tea.
But they both have important jobs away from the couch, with Sophie a window dresser in shops while Pete works for an insurance company.
She got upset on the show on Friday because of the jobs crisis sparked by a new lockdown, crying on screen for the first time.

The Michael family have been with Gogglebox since the start – but had to decide between the show and their dad’s ambitions in 2015.
Andrew and wife Carolyne were axed from the hit after he ran to be an MP for Ukip in Hastings and Rye.
However, he failed to make it to Westminster and was delighted to return to the show with his family in its sixth series.

Ellie Warner and little sister Izzi are their own glam squad – both working in the beauty biz.
The eldest star runs her own hair salon – often posting her latest jobs on a special Instagram account.
And, just to prove she doesn’t mind taking risks with her own hair, she dyed it a colour she accurately described as ‘Tango Ice Blast’.

It’s no wonder the Siddiquis are so handy with a remote control – as they all have backgrounds in tech.
Derby-based brothers Umar works as a computer technician and makes electronic dance music while his brother Bassit is an IT teacher with his own education company.
Meanwhile, their dad Sid was an engineer in the NHS before he retired – to the sofa.

The sport-mad Plummer brothers Tremaine, Twaine and Tristan – known as as the ‘three Ts’ – have been slumped on the Gogglebox sofa in 2016.
But in real life they are incredibly active, with Tristan, who once played football for Championship club Bristol City, appearing for Bitton AFC.
Twaine is thought to turn out for Bradford Town and Tremaine hosts a breakfast show on Bristol’s Ujima FM.

Stephen Webb first appeared on the show alongside then-boyfriend Chris Butland-Steed.
Their relationship hit the rocks but they kept on appearing on Gogglebox together before Chris quit to be replaced by Stephen’s husband Daniel Lustig.
Of all the pairings, they probably talk about their work the most – both being hairdressers and co-owners of their Brighton salon, Lustig & Webb.

However, she is thought to have left the pint-pulling game, while Lee spends much of the year abroad with his boyfriend in Cyprus.
