Viewers of Good Morning Britain have been left shocked after the Prime Minister’s sister said that the 127,000 Covid deaths in the UK were “not on his watch.”

Rachel Johnson appeared on the show alongside David Mellor to speak about whether or not ‘VIPs’ should be exempt from quarantining ahead of the Euro 2020 final on July 11, which is set to be held at Wembley Stadium.

There has been scrutiny over the anticipated final with many people questioning whether or not ‘VIPs’ attending will have to quarantine.

There’s an argument with people who are saying if they don’t then it’s not fair on all the other people who are continuing to follow restrictions.

Speaking on the matter, David Mellor told the panel that it shouldn’t be one rule for one person and one rule for another before adding that he appreciates the Johnson family clan are not big believers of rules.

Responding, Rachel agreed with a majority of what David said before stating that it’s important for Britain to host as it’s a chance to pitch for the FIFA World Cup in 2030.

She said: “Above all, I think if this event does go ahead on British soil, the 2,500 VIPs and hangers-on and wise I think it will literally put the final nail in the coffin of the Covid restrictions, the government will have to open up probably before the terminus date of July 19 because I think the Covid restrictions will be collapsing under the weight of their own contradictions and the country will not put up with it.”

The conversation then quickly moved onto Rachel’s brother and how he’s handled the pandemic.

Bringing up the lack of social distancing seen on the beach at the G7 summit in Cornwall, Rachel then mentioned the Queen and the royals who attended the Eden Project who were seen to be having a ‘lovely time’.

She said that it was time to roll that out to the rest of us before Adil bringing up her father breaking the Covid rules last year by going on holiday.

Responding, Rachel said: “Well that was last year, he hasn’t used the Stanley Johnson loophole this year.”

David then told Rachel that she should go back to their childhood days when she most likely ‘beat up’ Boris and told her to go to number 10 and give him some common sense.

Telling the panel that she’s tried, she stood up for her brother by saying that he’s in a very difficult position and the deaths we’ve seen have been down to an out of control virus, not the Prime Minister.

She said: “The 127,000 deaths, that is not on his watch, you can see why as he says public health is the priority it still has to be the priority but you have to carry the country with you and the problem with this final is the optics is so bad you’re going to lose the country.”

Susanna then asked if she was never in favour of the lockdown with Rachel saying “I don’t want to come across as a mad GB News wingnut.”

There was then a sudden awkward pause with Rachel not carrying on her sentence but there could be laughter heard behind the camera from the crew.

Ending the interview, Rachel said: “I’m very proud of his achievements across all settings.”

People on Twitter were quick to pick up on what the Prime Minister’s sister had said.

One person said: “Rachel Johnson just said on GMB 127000 deaths was not on Johnson’s watch.”

Sara Tweeted: “Did Rachel Johnson sister of Boris Johnson just say 127,000 deaths were not on his watch @GMB Who’s watch was it?”

Michael said: “is Rachel Johnson on something? Saying that the covid deaths are not on Boris Johnson watch….. Well last time I looked he was our disastrous PM during the pandemic”.

Another added: “This is now farcical. 127,000+ deaths are *literally* on Boris Johnson’s watch.”

Kev said: “127,000 deaths have happened on his watch Rachel, ultimately he is responsible for every one of em ..he’s the ultimate boss ..”
