Thiago Alcantara has delivered a pretty blunt message to his Liverpool team-mate following this evening’s draw with Manchester United.

The Premier League champions missed the chance to move joint top of the table by drawing 0-0 with the Red Devils at Anfield.

And on another day it was the visitors who might’ve left Merseyside with the victory after forcing Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson into some heroics, particularly in the second half.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have only taken three points from the last 12 on offer – three draws and a defeat by Southampton – and Thiago has admitted to the club’s official website that their form is nowhere near good enough for a team with aspirations of defending their title.

He said: “Without winning, we are never satisfied. We made a superb first half, then the second half was 50-50. We are happy in some way with our performance – how we did in some moments of the game – but we have to do much better to be on top of the league.”

The Spain international offered an unfiltered perspective of the game and here’s how some Liverpool fans reacted to his comments on Twitter:

More worrying for Jurgen Klopp is the fact that his side’s goals have dried up.

Since sticking seven past Crystal Palace last month, Liverpool have scored only twice in the four matches since then, but Thursday night’s visit of Burnley should, in theory, solve that.
