FULL-TIME, Girona 0-1 Barcelona: The worst performance of Barça’s season so far and they should have conceded a late equalizer, but they’ve somehow managed to escape a tough, physical Catalan Derby with a win to go six points clear at the top of the table. It’s a third straight 1-0 win and another bad attacking showing, and this team desperately needs to play better going into a brutal February.
94’ RED CARD: Girona manager Míchel Sánchez has been sent off for excessive protests on the touchline.
65’ GOAL DISALLOWED: Girona equalize through Arnau Martínez but the goal is ruled out for a clear offside on the full-back.
GOAL!!! Girona 0-1 Barcelona (Pedri 61’): BARÇA TAKE THE LEAD! Barça win the ball high up the pitch, Ansu Fati finds Jordi Alba and his low cross accross the line is deflected by goalkeeper Gazzaniga and falls to Pedri who taps it in!
SECOND HALF KICKOFF! Girona 0-0 Barcelona: Back underway at the Montilivi!
HALFTIME, Girona 0-0 Barcelona: Without a doubt the worst 45 minutes of Barcelona’s season so far. They’ve done absolutely nothing with the ball and Girona haven’t played well at all themselves. It’s been boring and almost unwatchable, and the refereeing has been awful. Here’s hoping for a better second half.
KICKOFF! Girona 0-0 Barcelona: And we’re underway at the Montilivi!
WELCOME TO THE ESTADI MONTILIVI!!! The cozy home of Girona in Catalonia is the site of an important La Liga clash between the hosts and Barcelona, who come into this one looking to go six points clear at the top of the table for at least 24 hours. But it won’t be easy against a young and talented Girona side who will no doubt look to play their best against their Catalan rivals. This should be fun, and you’re welcome to join us to follow and comment all the action. Vamos!

Matchday Thread Rules
We don’t have a lot of rules here, but there are a few things to keep in mind when joining our matchday threads:
Even if the referee sucks or we lose the game, watch the swearing. It’s just unnecessary. Also, don’t discuss illegal streaming links. Those who do it will be warned, and those who post links will be instantly banned. Finally, be nice to each other. This is a Barcelona community and we don’t need to offend one another.
Have fun with the game! Forever and ever, no matter the competition, VISCA EL BARÇA!
