With their starting and backup quarterbacks both injured, the Giants turned to third-stringer Tommy DeVito for Sunday’s matchup against the Cowboys.

DeVito completed 14-of-27 passes for 86 yards in the 49-17 loss and will get the start Week 11 when the Giants face the Washington Commanders.

As fans call for the Giants to bring in a quarterback, Ben Volin of the Boston Globe has a suggestion.

“It’s getting real ugly now,” Volin wrote on Monday. “The Giants are at 2-8, the offense is the worst in the league, and third-string QB Tommy DeVito was totally overmatched in Sunday’s loss to the Dallas. The Giants probably need to sign a veteran like Nick Foles just to finish out the season.”

Foles, 34, last played with the Colts in 2022 and was released this past offseason. He has played in 71 games (58 starts) in his 11-year career with the Eagles, Rams, Chiefs, Jaguars, Bears, and Colts. He’s completed 62.4 percent of his career passes for 14,227 yards with 82 touchdowns and 47 interceptions.

While with the Eagles in 2017, Foles came off the bench when Carson Wentz tore his ACL. Foles helped the Eagles to a 41-33 win over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LII and earned MVP honors for his effort.
