The New York Giants defensive end has been named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week after a standout performance in Sunday’s crucial 20-12 win over the Washington Commanders.

The rookie, who was the No. 5 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, recorded a career and game-high 12 tackles (nine solo), including three for loss. He was also responsible for getting the Giants on the board with a touchdown on a on a one-yard fumble return in the second quarter.

  • Thibodeaux joins linebacker Devon Kennard (2014) as the only Giants rookies to earn the honor and becomes the first former University of Oregon player to earn the award as a rookie
  • Thibodeaux registered career highs in tackles (12) and tackles for loss (three), as well as recording a strip-sack, which he returned for a touchdown in the second quarter of the Giants’ 20-12 win over the Commanders on Sunday Night Football.
