Giants’ Brian Daboll lets out frustration on Daniel Jones after brutal interception

The scene at the Meadowlands was so bad on Monday night for the Giants to the point that head coach Brian Daboll and quarterback Daniel Jones didn’t look like they were on the same page.

A concerning scene played out after the Giants QB threw a pick-six that gave the Seattle Seahawks a 21-3 lead late in the third quarter.

A clearly upset Daboll approached Jones as he came off the field saying something to the fifth-year quarterback.

Jones appeared to look the other way and walked right by his head coach without acknowledging him or what he was trying to say.

The ESPN cameras then showed Daboll with Jones sitting on the bench going over something on a table before the clearly frustrated coach threw it down and turned away.

It was an ugly night for Jones, who threw his second interception of the game in the fourth quarter and was sacked 10 times by the time it was was finally over.

Jones did not have a touchdown pass in what ended in a 24-3 defeat and dropped the Giants to 1-3.

He finished the night completing 27 passes for 203 yards.

Daboll addressed the outburst in the post-game press conference, saying “I was trying to see what he thought and then tell him what I saw.”

He declined to get into the “particulars” of the intended route. “We just didn’t get the job done,” he said.

Monday night wasn’t as bad as the 40-0 whooping the Giants took to open the season on “Sunday Night Football”, but the effort added another knock on Jones who has struggled during the NFL’s biggest regular season stages.

Jones was 1-11 in primetime games during the course of his career entering Sunday’s game against the Seahawks.

His only primetime victory was last December when Big Blue defeated the Washington Commanders 20-12.

The 2023 campaign has been a tough one so far for the Giants QB, who was inked to a four-year, $160 million.

Jones entered the game with just two touchdown passes this season – both of which came during the Week 2 win over the Arizona Cardinals – and had completed 63 of the 97 pass attempts he’s made.
