Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo will miss Wednesday’s matchup against Donovan Mitchell and the Cleveland Cavaliers with a shoulder injury, per The Athletic’s Eric Nehm.

The two-time MVP has been in the lineup for 39 of Milwaukee’s first 40 games this season. The only other matchup he missed was a Nov. 15 win over the Toronto Raptors.

Antetokounmpo is averaging 31.2 points, 11.4 rebounds and 5.9 assists while continuing to be one of the sport’s most versatile defenders.

The Bucks are off to a 28-12 start to the season, as Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard continue to find their chemistry as teammates. There have been some notable bumps in the road, but the two seem to be finding their rhythm.

Any absence for Antetokounmpo will obviously alter the chemistry development.

Lillard will have to take on a solo starring role with Giannis out of the lineup, and the Bucks will hope Khris Middleton is able to find his groove after a slow start to the season.
