The Milwaukee Bucks forward looks to secure his intellectual property.
Apart from being a super basketball player, Giannis Antetokounmpo is proving to be a savvy businessman. He recently filed for numerous trademarks that will help protect his brand from exploitation and unauthorized use, both in the US and abroad.
Laying down the foundation
According to trademark attorney Josh Gerben, the Milwaukee Bucks superstar has filed for three trademarks that run off his well-known moniker, “The Greek Freak.” These will apparently lay the foundation for Giannis to launch his own array of products ranging from apparel, stress balls, wrist bands, backpacks, pencils, and even wetsuits!
Due to his incredible on-court skills, humble beginnings, and pleasant personality, Giannis has become one of the most popular pitchmen today. His endorsements range from Nike to JBL, Tissot, and Hulu.
Eyes on the prize
In spite of his numerous business deals, Giannis’ focus remains on basketball and helping the Bucks capture another NBA championship. They are set to take on their Eastern Conference rival, the Boston Celtics, on Tuesday at the Fiserv Forum. The 7-footer has been a man on a mission this season and is averaging 37.3 points, 13.4 rebounds, and 5.5 assists per game during the Bucks’ 10-game winning streak.
Giannis’ hard work and dedication toward his craft are paying off, as he is considered to be one of the frontrunners for this season’s MVP award. And with him trademarking his brand, Giannis has secured another avenue to add more revenue aside from his basketball income. All eyes will be on him to see what he has in store, both for his fans and foes alike.
