Ghislaine Maxwell was sent to solitary confinement in tears as punishment for taking part in a behind bars exclusive interview with Jeremy Kyle, according to reports.

The disgraced British socialite , 61, spoke by video call with the Talk TV presenter on January. In the interview she dismissed a photo of Prince Andrew and Jeffrey Epstein victim Virginia Giuffre as a fake.

But prison insiders told the DailyMail.com an investigation was launched to determine whether Maxwell had breached the terms of her 20-year federal sex trafficking sentence by selling her story.

The interview at the low security Federal Correctional Institute Tallahassee raised concerns because prisoners are only allowed “video visits” from a closely monitored list of friends, family and lawyers.

In the interview, the convicted sex trafficker told Jeremy Kyle: “[After the death of Epstein]. They [victims] should take their disappointment and upset out on the authorities that allowed that to happen.

“As I said I hope that they have some closure via the judicial process.”

In the same interview she claimed the infamous photo showing the Duke of York next to Ms Giuffre is fake.

A source told DailyMail.com that Maxwell had been handcuffed and taken away around two weeks after the interview aired.

The incident reportedly left Maxwell upset and in tears as she denied receiving any money for the interview.

“Nobody saw her again for three days,” the source said. “The SHU is not a nice place. You go in there if you’re suicidal, if you fail a drug test or you get in a fight.

“It’s like a little box and you’re only allowed out to shower once a day. There’s no contact from anyone, no privileges, they slide your meals through a slot.”

Maxwell was sentenced to 20 years in prison last year after she was found guilty by a jury of luring young girls to massage rooms for Epstein to molest between 1994 and 2004.

Epstein was found dead in his cell at a federal jail in Manhattan in August 2019 while he awaited trial on sex trafficking charges. The death was ruled a suicide.
