Get to Know Michelle, One of Matt James’ Final Contestants on The Bachelor

Michelle #Michelle

Michelle Young got the short end of the stick on The Bachelor Season 25, because she didn’t arrive on night one like the rest of the women. Instead, she arrived later in the season with four other women. And she wasn’t well-received. The five new women were bullied and shunned by the OGs. But that didn’t stop Michelle from standing out…to viewers and to Matt James. She’s the only one of that new batch who made it far in the competition. In fact, she made it to Matt’s final three. And we’re not surprised. She’s amazing, lovable, smart, sensitive and also secretly hilarious.

Get to know The Bachelor‘s Michelle, one of Matt’s final contestants on the 2021 season.

Warning: Spoilers ahead!

Who is Michelle Young from The Bachelor?

Michelle is a 27-year-old from Edina, Minnesota. In her Bachelor bio, she describes herself as an “over-worker,” “loyal, compassionate and supportive.” She loves to “spend time with friends hiking and wine tasting” and is “very adventurous in life and in appetite.” In fact, all of her favorite restaurants are local food trucks. She adds that she “has big dreams for the future and says she wants a man by her side that is supportive and driven to make the world a better place.”

What is Michelle Young’s job?

Michelle is a super passionate teacher. We got to meet her students during the hometown dates, and they are incredibly protective of her, which we learned as they grilled Matt. “In her elementary school teacher job, she focuses on preparing her students to be the next generation of community leaders,” her bio reads.

She revealed in the comments of one of her Instagram posts that she’s been doing distance-learning during the pandemic. “Making sure to stay balanced during distance learning is a difficult task, but hanging in there!” she wrote.

She majored in elementary education in college.

Michelle Young’s height

The former basketball player is 5’9 according to her college athletic profile.

Michelle’s age

At the time her Bachelor profile went up, she was 27.

Who are Michelle’s parents?

Her parents are LaVonne and Ephraim Young, and she has two siblings, Angela and Alex.

She’s ready for love

Michelle is one of those contestants who really seem to be in it for the right reasons, and we all know that is often not the case on this show. There’s not a ton on the internet about her, which tells us she isn’t in it for fame. In her bio she says she’s here “because she is ready to find love and a man with whom to start a family.” Her dream man is “confident but not cocky and will look at her as his equal in all things.” Her love language is “acts of service,” and “is looking for the superman to her superwoman and says that, together, she hopes that she and Matt can fall in love and change the world.” Us, too!

She’s also super athletic

Her bio notes that she’s a former Division I basketball player. She revealed that she misses the game in an Instagram post, and the camaraderie that goes along with it! But not the “conditioning workouts”!

She played guard at Bradley University and won loads of awards like Player of the Week multiple times.

Michelle’s smart, too!

She made the honor roll pretty much all through her time in college. No big deal!

She doesn’t have time for the racism in Bachelor Nation

Michelle joined her fellow Season 25 contestants in denouncing the racism within Bachelor Nation.

Along with the women from Matt’s season, she shared a statement in response to Chris Harrison‘s interview with former Bachelorette Rachel Lindsay, during which he defended fellow contestant Rachael Kirkconnell‘s past racist actions.

“We are deeply disappointed and want to make it clear that we denounce any defense of racism. Any defense of racist behaviors denies the lived and continued experiences of BIPOC individuals. These experiences are not to be exploited or tokenized,” says the statement, which Michelle posted on her Instagram Stories.

She’s new to Instagram

If you needed any more confirmation that Michelle isn’t in this for the influencer fame that often comes along with appearing on The Bachelor, we have it: Michelle just joined Instagram a year ago. Her first post was in April 2020, gearing up to appear on the new season, we can safely assume.
