The Toronto Blue Jays are making a “push” for free-agent outfielder George Springer, per Ben Nicholson-Smith and Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.
Nicholson-Smith noted Springer is “impressed” with the Jays, who went 32-28 this season and made the playoffs for the first time since 2016.
“Where that leads, we will see,” Nicholson-Smith tweeted. “Will update once there is more to share.”
Springer, 31, has played all seven of his MLB seasons with the Astros, winning the 2017 World Series and the 2019 American League pennant with the team. The three-time All-Star had 14 home runs, 32 RBI and a .265 batting average (.899 OPS) last year.
