The 24-year-old Brit is considered fairly straight-laced compared to some of his fellow young Formula 1 stars – although anyone who has seen Drive to Survive will know that he is as competitive as they come and can have quite the potty mouth.

And Russell has become a meme in his own unique way, with the Mercedes driver the subject of a lengthy Twitter thread in which users poke light-hearted fun at the Brit and his apparent ordinariness.

He has gone viral online thanks to F1 fans who have been posting ‘George Russell is the type of guy who’ before suggesting a mundane social interaction.

Sharing the thread to his 1.5million followers, Russell said: “How am I the kind of guy who has only just discovered this trend…”

However he didn’t stop there.

Russell took the time to go through some of the funnier suggestions with comments of his own.

Responding to a suggestion that he’s ‘the type of guy to say “I’m just going to squeeze right by you”‘, he replied ‘manners cost nothing’, before replying to a suggestion that he’s ‘the type of guy to say ‘I won’t get too far without these’ when picking up his car keys, he replied saying ‘the simple ones are the best’.

He then replied to a suggestion that ‘he’s the type of the guy to slap his thighs and say “right” when he gets up’, to which Russell replied ‘too right I am!’

We knew it.
