A new Genshin Impact leak apparently gives more information about one of the upcoming characters, the long-awaited Dendro user Yaoyao. Even though the two new roster additions, Wanderer and Faruzan, are yet to officially join the live servers, multiple leaks have already started revealing more information about a new set of characters.
Yaoyao is one of the most anticipated Genshin Impact characters as she was mentioned in numerous leaks since the game arrived back in September 2020. It seems like after two years, she could finally become a part of the playable roster in the upcoming months.

Out of all the characters that had their model leaked from the original beta phase, Yaoyao is the only one who is yet to appear in the game. This is probably due to the fact that she is a Dendro user which prevented HoYoverse from adding her before the mysterious Sumeru region arrived. Yaoyao is also known to be a Liyue character which is probably the main reason why she didn’t appear in the first four Sumeru updates. A new post on the popular Genshin Impact Leaks subreddit apparently reveals the upcoming splash art for Yaoyao, with the sketch also showing a companion similar to some other characters in the game like Xiangling.
Having an animal friend makes sense considering that recent leaks have revealed that Yaoyao’s kit will be similar to Itto’s Masatsu Zetsugi: Akaushe Burst, which deploys his loyal companion Ushi on the field. Both of the Dendro user’s skills will have the ability to place objects on the field which provides different kinds of buffs and healing. This means that Yaoyao should be the first Dendro healer in Genshin Impact, which means that she could become a must-have character for a lot of team comps.
When it comes to her release date, credible leakers have stated that she is expected to arrive in Genshin Impact update 3.4. This means that she will join the roster during the Lantern Rite Festival which usually grants one Liyue character for free. This led some fans to believe that HoYoverse could allow them to acquire the new four-star character by completing some event-exclusive quests.
Yaoyao won’t be the only new character in this update as previous rumors revealed that another popular Dendro user named Alhaitham might join the roster in the upcoming weeks. Unlike Yaoyao, Alhaitham has already appeared in the current Sumeru storyline, and he is expected to have a higher five-star rarity.
Genshin Impact is now available on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
