Garza Blanca Cancun Is The All-Inclusive For Foodies

Cancun is getting a brand new all-inclusive, and the food is delicious. All-inclusives have traditionally not been known for their culinary prowess. Cafeteria-style dining and watered-down drinks is what typically comes to mind when luxury travelers think of all-inclusives. However, in recent years, higher end brands have been seeking to change the narrative around these types of resorts. And in today’s travel climate where travelers are looking for as low stress vacation as possible, all-inclusives are suddenly very attractive.

The Garza Blanca Resort & Spa has opened on the north side of Cancun. Far from the mega-resorts in Cancun’s “Hotel Zone”, a trip to Garza Blanca is different from your typical Cancun getaway. Tafer Resorts, the owners of the hotel have completed the first two phases of construction on the hotel and the property is currently on a soft open until the grand opening later this Fall.

What is Open During Garza Blanca’s Soft Open?

Currently, guests can enjoy the 162 suites available. The property will eventually have 450 rooms and suites in total. During the soft open, dining choices include: their signature Blanca Blue restaurant, a food truck, and a snack bar.

While the entire pool area is not yet completed, there are several heated outdoor swimming pools available for guest use, including an adults-only pool with over water hammocks, and three Jacuzzis. There is also direct beach access with lounge chairs and day beds available.

All guests of Garza Blanca Cancun are also welcomed to check out the amenities at their sister resort, Villa del Palmar Cancun next-door. This includes several restaurants, a spa, heated swimming pools and their beach. The two hotels are connected via the beach and an indoor walkway.

Dining at Garza Blanca

The culinary team at Garza Blanca has put offering local, seasonal flavors at the top of their priorities. Executive Chef Tiago Aceituno clearly has a passion for his native Mexican fare and shares that with his guests via, colorful, exciting dishes that push diners to try not only local ingredients, but also modern preparations of classic dishes.

Starting with breakfast, guests can currently either dine inside or outside at the Blanca Blue restaurant or in-room. The breakfast menu at Blanca Blue features things like omelets and Eggs Benedict alongside traditional Mexican dishes like chilaquiles & enchiladas. They also have fresh juices and pastries on offer. The in-room dining menu is slightly pared back, but still offers a wide range of items.

Moving onto lunch, you have the option of dining poolside added to the repertoire. The poolside snack bar menu is filled with fresh salads, baja tacos and much more. Chef Tiago’s flavors are notable here as well because you won’t see an overcooked burger or dry plate of nachos in sight. The fresh seafood and perfectly ripe avocados are exactly the type of alfresco dining you would expect to find at a luxury resort.

And finally, dinnertime is where the real magic happens. Expect to try traditional Mexican dishes elevated by Chef Tiago’s modern style and interesting take on touches of international influence. While there is certainly plenty to keep you busy at the resort during the soft open, there is lots more coming this Fall. Garza Blanca Cancun will have a total of four full-service restaurants, a “gourmet food hall”, six outdoor pools, including a kids´ pool and a rooftop infinity pool overlooking the ocean, a full-service spa, state-of-the-art gym, and several event spaces. The grand opening is planned for Fall 2021.
